Full-time work Mon-Fri, june 12-16

Oh boy, this time I'm in for a real 5-day week! Luckily the week goes smoothly:
For several days we have 30+, and o'course the barracks don't have any AC (and even keeping the windows isn't always an option, as landscapers with loud tool are often just around the corner) ... my solution is to walk around barefoot, nobody seems to care. After two days of shopping and jealously eyeing numerous women in light skirts, I finally find one for myself - James like it too - and o'course right after that it gets chilly for the rest of the week. Hmph!

In terms of work (yes, I did squeeze in some), I'm finally writing some code, which is reassuring. I resolved the problem of not knowing how often to go ask my boss qns by emailing him - now he's the one who gets up and walks down the hall to answer them :P On Friday, I barely make it through the day: being tired wipes out my French sometimes. What I coded up is nice but runs too slowly so for the first time, I have to worry about the efficiency of my code! Kind of exciting!

PS Thurs night we go salsa dancing! The club is in the Monmartre area (very touristy, hear lots of English and Russian), recommended by an Irish friend of James' friend from UofT. I take the RER for the first time: trains bigger and hotter than the metro ones, less stops ... Opera where I have to switch back to normal metro is like a whole mall. James comes not feeling too well but ready to dance. The crepe I get is the worst one I've had in Paris, yikes. The club is called El Pueblo, it's a Mexican restaurant; the dance floor is hardwood but has a raised part and a palm tree right in the middle. The first hour of class is nice even though J and I get separated: two teachers take on the total beginners, and another guy does casino rueda (many couples in a circle, exchange partners, etc) with the others. I get to learn some new steps, the style is similar but different from the rueda in Canada (moves to remember: ~vasilasa in three variations (girl turn w/ hand, girl turn no touch, both turn w/ hand), prima (guys' arms in girls' armpits, yikes), several versions of adios) (also, they call casino rueda "cuban salsa", and LA style - "puerto rican"). The second hour goes less well and we leave pretty soon. J doesn't seem to be very happy w/ being a beginner at smth - I guess it's been a while for him. The walk home is nice despite my best efforts to get us lost - James seems to be able to remedy them. Get home late, pass out. [Next morning, first thought: no more going out on weekdays.]

PPS Trouble sending emails, very irritatings, turns out I'm on the list of spammers in SpamCop. Email gmail tech support - they're working on it.
